Traditional? Modern? Good?

Today, lecturer had told us a lot of definition about traditional and modern. What is traditional? What is modern?
In my opinion, I think that traditional is a belief or behaviour that passed down within a group or society. Modern is the improvement of the technology and social status. Actually, I think that traditional and modern can be seen in many ways. For examples, in the field of economy, I think that production in traditional is for use or subsistence while production in modern is for profit and growth. The lifestyle of the traditional people is more leisure. People entertain themselves and their conversation is an art. They think that time means lived life. However, the people in modern time have less leisure time. People are entertained by specialists. Consumption replaces conversation. They just think that time is money and independent of life.

I think that we should protect our traditional culture. There are a lot of beautiful old story that we should transmits from generation to generation.  Modern is good but not good as well. It is because in this era of the modernism, people always communicate with their smartphone. They become more neglect. So, protect our traditional culture is good because it can decrease the distance between people. For examples, Chinese people will have a dinner together with family and cousin in the end of the Chinese New Year. It is a good tradition for people to talk and have fun.
